And so we come to the end of another week here at the STSC. But this week is about beginnings as well as endings. We welcome
to the fold with his debut submission her today.Competition is stiff among the poets in our roster but Judson more than holds his own as demonstrated below.
(Why we have attracted a number of poets is something that I choose not to question and simply be grateful for. As far as I am concerned if you are drawing in the poets then you are on the right track.)
After you are done with todays offering I would highly recommend heading over to Judson’s wonderful (and wonderfully named) ‘Dispatches from Bohemia’ Substack and delving into his body of work.
You won’t regret it.
Enjoy,
TJB.
I picked two Daisies this morning,
the first one withered and I felt it die,
the second lived on forever,
and showed you have to try
Gone are the days of curiosity,
for asking reasons why
I heard two songs this afternoon,
the first was alive and free,
the second one a nocturne,
with a sleepy melody
Gone are the days of dancing,
bring them back to me
I saw two Warbler’s this evening,
one wrapped within its sorrow
the second sang lovely songs
who’s echoes shall reach tomorrow
Gone are the days of ownership,
we must learn to lend and borrow
I cried upon two gods tonight,
one I could not see,
the other said not a word,
but stared right back at me
Gone are the days of prayer,
they’ve done no good for me
I saw two beggars in the late night,
the first one gave up trying,
the second one just rolled over
in the gutter lying
Gone are the days of being born,
these are the days of dying
I saw two tombs in the black,
the first one filled with royalty
the second one just bare-bones,
shedding all their loyalty
Gone are the days of sadness,
Let us sing our songs joyfully
I had two lives I’ve lived in life,
the first was offered free,
the second one is just the same,
but paid back in razor memory
Gone are the days for counting the days,
I have shaken that bitter enemy
